Get a Shopping Cart for your Website
|
|
| We
regularly get asked about what it takes to get a
shopping cart put onto a website.
Unfortunately, the answer isn't always
straightforward. Getting a shopping cart
installed on your website can be an easy thing or
it can be a hard thing. There are lots of
different options available for this
service. Here are a few: |
|
| ~ |
PayPal:
We highly recommend that you consider
PayPal as an option for credit card
services on your website. PayPal
charges no monthly fee, but does have a
transaction charge. This way, if you
don't sell anything there is no
charge. We can usually install a
PayPal shopping cart on a website for
around $250 to $300 for a few pieces of
merchandise or to
setup the site to receive donations. We feel this is
the best way to do this for small
businesses or non-profit organization. |

Merchant
Account: If you work with a bank for
your credit card services, very often they
have internet billing services available.
Sometimes banks have their act together
and make it very easy to set up, and other
times it can be very difficult. The
range of cost can be from a few hundred
dollars to thousands to integrate this,
and there is always a monthly fee and
transaction fee. The reason the
cost varies so much is that if the bank
has the whole thing automated, then it is
simple to literally link off your
website. If not, then you must
purchase a shopping cart of some sort,
purchase a secure server and certificate,
and integrate it into your banks
"gateway" for accepting credit
cards. As you can see, it can be
easy or it can be hard. |

Other:
There are lots of companies out there that
have attempted to make their own version
of an online shopping cart. These
companies have done the full automation
much like PayPal, but act more like a
Merchant Account. Normally, they
charge a start up fee, a monthly fee, and
transaction fee for their services.
In most cases, they have made their
services very easy to integrate into a
website. The cost of setting it up
is usually fairly reasonable as long as
the service in question has done their
footwork. If they make it easy, then
it will go quickly. |
