| Dagoberto Gilb, who
lives in Austin, spent sixteen years making his living as a construction
worker, twelve of those as a journeyman, highrise carpenter with the
United Brotherhood of Carpenters. He
is the author of The Magic of Blood, which won the 1994
PEN/Hemingway Award and was a PEN/Faulkner finalist.
He is also the author of The Last Known Residence of Mickey
Acuņa, a New York Times Notable Book of the Year.
A new collection of his short fiction, Woodcuts of Women,
is due out in the fall of 2000. |
