Yxta Maya Murray is the author of Locas (1998) and What it Takes to Get to Vegas (1999), about being Mexican-American in East L.A. In 1996 she was a finalist for the National Magazine Award in Fiction, received a special mention in the 1997 Pushcart Prize anthology, and a Whiting Writers’ Award. She is a professor of law and resides in Los Angeles.
