Simon Ortiz has been a poet, writer, and storyteller for thirty years.  His most recent books are From Sand Creek (2000), Men on the Moon (1999), and After and Before the Lightning (1994).  Upcoming work includes Beyond the Reach of Time and Change, an edited volume of photographs and essays, and The Good Rainbow Road, a trilingual children’s book.  He has held positions as Interpreter and 1st Lt. Governor of Acoma Pueblo, his community and tribe in New Mexico.  As Native America’s major poet, he insistently focuses upon Native land, culture, and community as recurrent themes and topics in his work.
