Martinez

|
Demetria Martinez is the author of three collections of poetry,
The Devil’s Workshop and Breathing Between the
Lines, both published by University of Arizona Press, and
Turning, a manuscript that appears in an anthology of three Chicana poets titled
Three Times a Woman (Bilingual Review Press). She is also the author of the novel
Mother Tongue (Ballantine), winner of the 1994 Western States Book Award for fiction.

Martinez also writes a column for the progressive weekly,
The National Catholic Reporter. She received her BA from the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs at Princeton University. Martinez, who resides in Albuquerque, New Mexico, is completing a book of essays,
What Exactly is Olive Skin?, for the University of Oklahoma Press.
