Brooke Bessesen currently creates freelance stories for cable networks including National Geographic and Discovery. Brooke has passionately pursued animal-related and educational projects, such as the children’s show Cool Critters and wildlife segments for the Emmy Award-winning children’s series What’s Up.

As a writer, Brooke’s new children's book about native wildlife, Look Who Lives in the Desert, will be released by Arizona Highways in spring of 2004. She has contributed to magazines and newspapers, often non-fiction on the topic of wildlife. 

Brooke has filled much of her adult life with everything from dogs and cats to elephants and anteaters. She is a Certified Veterinary Technician and has worked with most species common to domesticity and zoological collection. Brooke has worked on the Phoenix Zoo medical team and served as the zoo’s on-camera naturalist. She has appeared on local and national television, handling exotic animals and speaking as an expert in the field of wildlife.
